The Role

TripleLift is actively recruiting a Cloud Engineer with a strong emphasis on programming skills to join our dedicated team on a full-time basis. As a well-established player in the advertising technology sector, we are committed to addressing the most difficult challenges that the industry faces.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a rapidly expanding and intricate environment, working alongside a small team. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around the development, advocacy, and implementation of our cloud & security roadmaps. By actively driving enhancements in our cloud security capabilities, you will play a crucial role in supporting critical projects aimed at bolstering our overall security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure Assistance: Support in managing cloud infrastructure components, ensuring their proper configuration and resource provisioning while adhering to security best practices for AWS. Work alongside development teams to understand infrastructure requirements and assist in implementing scalable and secure cloud architectures.

  • DevOps Collaboration and Automation: Collaborate with engineering teams to learn the integration of security into CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and infrastructure as code practices. Utilize programming skills to assist in the development of automation scripts and tools, helping streamline security controls and ensuring the consistent deployment of secure cloud resources.

  • Support in Network and Infrastructure Security: Aid in designing and implementing secure network architectures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems. Learn from senior network engineers and senior developers about secure network configurations and protocols.

  • Assistance in Identity and Access Management (IAM): Contribute to the development and maintenance of robust IAM policies, roles, and permissions.

  • Security Monitoring and Incident Response: Support the setup and management of security monitoring tools, SIEM systems, and incident response processes to detect, respond, and mitigate security incidents in cloud environments. Learn to develop and enhance incident response playbooks and implement automated incident response and alerting mechanisms.

  • Compliance and Governance Support: Help in implementing and maintaining compliance controls, grasping the adherence to industry regulations and cloud-specific compliance requirements. Participate in regular audits, prepare reports, and actively support governance processes.

  • Cloud Security Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with cloud security best practices, emerging trends, and technologies. Apply programming knowledge in the context of cloud security when feasible.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, communicating security requirements and providing guidance on secure cloud practices. Foster a culture of security awareness and knowledge sharing, applying programming skills as needed.

  • Problem Solving and Risk Analysis: Learn to assess security risks, identify vulnerabilities, and use programming skills to propose effective solutions to mitigate risks within cloud environments.

Desired Skills and Attributes

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a cloud engineering role or a similar capacity.

  • Demonstrable proficiency in object oriented programming.

  • Experience with GoLang and/or Python is preferred.

  • Eagerness to participate in technical projects and gain leadership experience.

  • Basic knowledge of AWS cloud services, backed by some practical experience.

  • Exposure to or understanding of SIEM systems, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing tools.

  • Basic understanding of cloud networking, including VPC, routing, and security controls.

  • Willingness and eagerness to learn how to analyze and effectively address security issues and incidents.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills for collaborative endeavors.

  • Openness to adapt in response to emerging cloud technologies and security threats.

  • Some experience with coding and scripting languages, specifically for executing modifications to cloud infrastructure via CLI and CI/CD, is desirable.

  • Interest in learning how to securely manage cloud-native environments and deploy tools in such settings.

  • Comfortable taking responsibility for tasks and projects.

  • Passion for continuous learning to further enhance technical acumen.

  • Commitment to correctness, efficiency, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work with some level of independence, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.

  • Capable of working under moderate pressure, multitasking, and adapting to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Receptive to feedback and open to constructive criticism for continuous improvement.

Education Requirement

A Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject is preferred, although candidates with relevant experience who hold other degrees will be considered.

Experience Requirement

2-3 years of experience working within a cloud engineer role or related/adjacent role

  • Ability to work swiftly and independently with no supervision.

  • Capable of working under pressure, multitasking, and thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Receptive to feedback and open to constructive criticism for continuous improvement.
