About the role:
The Nuclear Company is looking for a motivated Estimator to join our team in Columbia, South Carolina. In this role, you'll be key in developing, reviewing, and analyzing project cost estimates for our nuclear projects. Your work will ensure our projects are accurately planned and budgeted from start to finish.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and develop detailed project cost estimates, ranging from early conceptual stages to highly definitive ones, covering all project phases including engineering, procurement, and construction.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of both internal and external estimates (e.g., from EPC Contractors), verifying their accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project scope.
- Collaborate closely with our Planning & Scheduling team and other Project Controls Managers to ensure that all project cost baselines are accurate and fully integrated with project schedules and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Support the Project Controls team in conducting cost risk analyses and contribute to the development of accurate Estimates at Completion (EAC) to forecast total project costs.
- Develop detailed cost estimates for proposed project changes and work with our Contract and Procurement teams to support contract negotiations and validate change order pricing.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in estimating within heavy industrial, large-scale construction, or EPC environments. Direct experience on nuclear projects is a mandatory requirement.
- Proficiency with commonly used estimating tools and software within the industry.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed estimate reviews and validate complex financial information.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to interpret and apply project specifications, drawings, and other technical documentation for estimating purposes.
- Capable of working independently while also effectively collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and experience with relevant estimating software.

Estimated Starting Salary Range:
The estimated starting salary range for this role is $120,000 - $140,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a semi-monthly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
