We are currently seeking a talented and team-oriented Senior Laser Technology Engineer to add to our team. The ideal candidate demonstrates expert analytical and hands-on experience in laser and optical systems including, but not limited to: mechanical design, opto-mechanical assembly, laser systems alignment and troubleshooting, high energy and/or high average power laser experience, laser diagnostics, optics cleaning and handling, and a understanding of optical principals and design.

Job Responsibilities:

• Safely work on or around high energy / high average power laser systems
• Safely handle, clean, and install optics for high energy laser systems
• Have a knowledge of clean room protocol
• Be able to read mechanical and assembly drawings.
• Assemble and install opto-mechanical hardware per design specifications
• Align laser cavities and optical systems
• Test and troubleshoot optical systems using traditional laser diagnostics
• Create alignment procedures.
• Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
• Mechanical Design
• Must be able to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  
  

Qualifications:

Required:

• B.S. in Optical Engineering
• 10 + Years of practical hands-on experience in related fields of building, commissioning, troubleshooting lasers and/or optical s ystems.
• A background in optical engineering and optical systems using high power lasers.
• Practical experience installing and aligning optical and mechanical systems.
• Experience in a production environment.
• Experience with a variety of optical materials.
  
  

Preferred:

• Some experience in optical design is a plus
• Proficiency with Solidworks is a plus.
  
  

Physical Requirements:

This job will require standing and leaning over optical systems to adjust, align, and diagnose said systems. Workers must be able to see, hear and handle this level of physical activity in order to work safely in this high energy laser lab environment.

• Must be open to relocation to MA in order to qualify for this position. Relocation package is negotiable.
