Key Responsibilities
- Lead process design, optimization, and improvement initiatives across multiple programs or product lines.
- Direct the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing methods, automation, and tooling strategies.
- Serve as the technical lead for manufacturing readiness and process validation on New Product Introductions (NPI), including high-complexity or first-of-kind builds.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) efforts for significant or recurring manufacturing issues.
- Drive lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives, coaching teams on structured problem-solving methods.
- Own and continuously improve process documentation standards, including work instructions, SOPs, and control plans.
- Lead capacity planning, time studies, and throughput analysis; develop and justify capital equipment proposals.
- Partner with program management, quality, and design engineering to align manufacturing strategy with program requirements and schedules.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to Manufacturing Engineers and production technicians.
- Represent manufacturing engineering in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer interactions as needed.
- Ensure manufacturing processes maintain compliance with ISO and applicable industry/government standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering. In lieu of a degree, an additional 4 years of related experience (11+ years total) or relevant certifications will be considered.
- 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated progression of technical responsibility.
- Proven track record leading process improvement and NPI initiatives from concept through full-rate production.
- Advanced knowledge of production processes, materials, and equipment in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks), GD&T, FMEA, and statistical analysis software.
- Demonstrated experience developing PFMEAs, control plans, and process validations.
- Experience with manufacturing systems including ERP, MES, and QMS platforms (e.g., Costpoint, TIPQA).
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the work on government contracts; ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting electronics, RF, or C5ISR manufacturing.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a formal engineering leadership or technical lead capacity.
- Advanced degree in Engineering or a related field.
