About the Job

We are seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to set the technical direction for model-based systems engineering, requirements management, and verification across our programs. This is an enterprise-level role: rather than executing systems engineering on a single program, you will establish the frameworks, standards, and policies that every program follows, and you will build the workforce capability to apply them. You will serve as a senior technical authority to program teams, represent our digital engineering approach to customers and at industry forums, and shape the long-term roadmap for how we model, trace, and verify our systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Establish verification frameworks and modeling strategies that are applied consistently across multiple programs, and adapt them as program needs and customer expectations evolve.
• Own enterprise-wide requirements strategy and standards, including how requirements are generated, decomposed, allocated, traced, and managed across the program portfolio.
• Develop the strategic approach, policies, and standards for requirements verification and compliance, and define the evidence and closure criteria that demonstrate requirement satisfaction to customers.
• Set MBSE direction and standardization across the enterprise, including modeling conventions, profiles, reference architectures, model reuse strategy, and the SysML tooling roadmap.
• Establish enterprise-level configuration and baseline control policies governing the development, evolution, and configuration of system models and technical baselines.
• Define documentation policy and ensure organizational consistency in the generation of official technical information, evidence, and deliverable products.
• Represent the company's technical vision in customer engagements, design reviews, proposals, and industry forums; serve as a credible senior voice in front of government and prime customers.
• Drive enterprise-level initiatives in verification and digital engineering through strategic leadership, identifying gaps and acting on them without direction.
• Develop workforce strategy for the systems engineering discipline, building modeling and verification capability through mentorship, coaching, training, and structured skill development of engineers at all levels.
• Shape the long-term digital engineering vision and roadmap, creating and improving the products, services, processes, and policies that support company goals.
• Provide senior technical oversight and independent assessment of program systems engineering products, escalating technical risk to engineering and program leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 15+ years of systems engineering experience, including demonstrated responsibility for technical direction spanning multiple programs or an entire organization.
• Expert-level proficiency in MBSE and SysML, with a track record of defining modeling standards and conventions rather than only authoring models.
• Demonstrated ownership of requirements management strategy at the organizational level, including tooling, process definition, and traceability architecture, using tools such as Jama and Cameo.
• Demonstrated experience defining verification and compliance approaches and successfully closing requirement verification with external customers.
• Experience establishing configuration management and baseline control practices for models and technical baselines.
• Strong understanding of both hardware and software domains and their interaction at the system level.
• Proven ability to influence across organizational boundaries and to lead through expertise rather than positional authority.
• Demonstrated record of mentoring and developing systems engineers and raising discipline-wide capability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting technical vision to senior customer and executive audiences.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in DoD, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries, including familiarity with government acquisition milestones and technical review gates.
• Experience leading a digital engineering or digital transformation initiative, including tool selection, migration, and organizational adoption.
• Working knowledge of SysML v2 and a view on how to adopt it at scale.
• Experience with PLM and integrated toolchain strategy across requirements, models, configuration management, and test.
• Familiarity with automation and scripting to support model validation, metrics, and reporting.
• Understanding of safety, reliability, and cybersecurity considerations in system design.
• Active security clearance.
• Industry recognition through publications, standards body participation, conference presentations, or professional certification (e.g., INCOSE ESEP).
