About The Job
Parry Labs is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Writer to develop, maintain, and manage high-quality technical documentation supporting advanced defense and aerospace systems. This role will work closely with engineering, systems engineering, logistics, program management, quality, and other functional organizations to transform complex technical information into clear, accurate, and usable publications.
The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical manuals, procedures, work instructions, reports, engineering documentation, and other technical data throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a highly technical environment, can quickly understand complex systems, and has the ability to communicate technical information clearly to a variety of audiences.
Temporary Three (3) Month Position
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, edit, format, and maintain technical publications and technical data for defense and aerospace systems.
- Work directly with engineers, subject matter experts, program managers, and other technical personnel to gather and validate source information.
- Translate complex engineering concepts, system descriptions, operational procedures, and maintenance requirements into clear and concise technical documentation.
- Develop and maintain documents such as:
- Technical manuals and user guides
- Operations and maintenance procedures
- Installation and integration procedures
- Work instructions
- Troubleshooting and fault-isolation procedures
- Training and operator materials
- Logistics and sustainment documentation
- Engineering reports and technical memoranda
- Ensure publications accurately reflect the current design, configuration, capabilities, and operational requirements of the product.
- Coordinate technical reviews with subject matter experts and incorporate comments and corrections into controlled documentation.
- Support document configuration management, revision control, change incorporation, and release processes.
- Ensure documentation complies with applicable customer requirements, contractual deliverables, company processes, and industry or government standards.
- Support development of documentation associated with system development, integration, test, qualification, deployment, and sustainment activities.
- Identify inconsistencies, missing information, technical errors, and ambiguities in source material and work with responsible engineers to resolve them.
- Maintain document templates, style guides, terminology, and publication standards to promote consistency across programs.
- Participate in technical interchange meetings, design reviews, test events, and other program activities as necessary to develop an accurate understanding of system functionality.
- Support preparation and delivery of technical data packages to government and commercial customers.
- Manage multiple documentation efforts simultaneously while maintaining schedule, quality, and attention to detail.
- Continuously improve technical publication processes, tools, templates, and workflows.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing, technical publications, or documentation development, ideally within defense, aerospace, or another highly regulated technical industry.
- Demonstrated experience producing technical manuals, procedures, work instructions, or engineering documentation.
- Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and engineering concepts into clear, accurate documentation for varied audiences.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and other technical source material.
- Working knowledge of document configuration management, revision control, and controlled-document release processes.
- Proficiency with technical publishing and authoring tools (e.g., Adobe FrameMaker, Arbortext, Microsoft Word) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects concurrently while meeting schedule and quality requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, program management, logistics, and quality organizations.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the work on government contracts; ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
