About The Role
The System Integration Engineer plays a critical role in our System Integration and Test department. This position involves hands-on work in a lab environment, integrating and troubleshooting hardware and software to ensure seamless functionality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking, Linux, automation, and integrating complex technical solutions. As a System Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for interpreting technical documents, configuring and managing systems, and ensuring that all components work together harmoniously. This role requires a deep understanding of networking principles, system security, and virtualization technologies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Interpret Interface Control Documents (ICDs), wiring schematics, and system documentation.
- Facilitate the interface of hardware and software through hands-on execution in lab environments and customer sites.
- Collaborate with Systems and Software Engineering teams to derive requirements and develop system models.
- Integrate and troubleshoot software components and networked systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Configure and manage virtualized environments using tools like KVM, VMware, or Docker, including setting up and maintaining virtual networks.
- Perform detailed configuration of Virtual Machines, Containers, and Hypervisor systems.
- Document system design and implementation with a high level of attention to detail.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Integration Engineering.
- Proven experience with networks, Linux, and virtualization environments.
- Proficient in using NMCLI to manage Linux networking and create interfaces with IP addresses, routes, DNS, etc.
- Skilled in editing, testing, and troubleshooting Python and Bash scripts, and adding features to scripts for automation.
- Experienced in interpreting and editing Linux Kickstart files and build scripts.
- Proficient in using Clonezilla for backup and restoration of devices.
- Capable of configuring Linux security (Firewalld and SELinux), including adding ACLs and SE policies with semanage.
- Experience in creating new services that can persist after a reboot.
- Knowledgeable in downloading APT and YUM packages and creating an offline repository.
- Skilled in troubleshooting boot failures by entering single-user mode and performing necessary diagnostics.
- Proficient in interpreting, applying, and testing Cyber Linux STIGs.
- Proficiency in configuring VLANs, DHCP, and basic routing protocols (such as RIP or OSPF) on Cisco devices.
