Position Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to support day-to-day laboratory operations. This role is essential to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient lab environment. The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining laboratory equipment and spaces, managing inventory, assisting with media preparation, and ensuring smooth workflow by supporting lab operators and technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and sterilize laboratory glassware, tools, and equipment following standard protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization across all lab areas, ensuring a tidy and functional workspace.
• Track and restock laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables as needed.
• Assist in the preparation of growth media and other lab solutions under the guidance of lead technicians.
• Autoclave waste, media, and materials according to biosafety and operational procedures.
• Support laboratory staff with routine tasks to help maintain efficient workflow.
• Follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures at all times.
• Perform general housekeeping duties including sweeping, wiping benches, organizing storage, etc.
• Report equipment issues or inventory shortages promptly to the lead and/or supervisor.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or experience in biology, microbiology, or a related field is a plus.
• Prior experience in a lab or production environment is preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and be on feet for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in a laboratory environment with exposure to biohazardous materials and chemicals.
• Proper PPE (gloves, lab coat, eye protection) will be provided and must be worn as required.

This role is in-person based in Vacaville, CA.
