Teaching kids to think critically and communicate effectively has never been more important, and NoRedInk helps students become better writers in more than 60% of U.S. school districts.

We're looking for a Director of Business Operations & Strategy who will be a strategic partner and force multiplier for NoRedInk’s executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will work closely with the Executive team to drive critical cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives. You will excel at simplifying projects while also maintaining enough structure to ensure we make well-informed, data-driven decisions. Also, you will leverage your expertise in data visualization and storytelling to enhance how we talk about our business to investors and internal audiences. This is a key role in the organization, and while initially an individual contributor, this role provides significant growth potential within NoRedInk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Program and Project Management:
    • Facilitate and drive accountability during weekly executive team L10 meetings
    • Support the execution of quarterly strategic initiatives. This will be accomplished through owning initiatives directly and enabling other ELT members to achieve their initiatives.
    • Drive the Board Meeting preparation process. Foster alignment on priorities as they pertain to the business strategy. Collaborate closely with executive leaders to facilitate the completion of pre-work tasks, enabling readiness for focused discussions during the meeting.
    • Establish a seamless and predictable business cadence by taking ownership of the comprehensive company calendar. Partner with People Ops to meticulously plan for and align on business rhythms, crucial external and internal events, milestones, and initiatives.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Drive pivotal cross-functional initiatives by spearheading collaborative efforts, ensuring alignment across departments, and orchestrating the seamless execution of strategic projects to achieve organizational goals and enhance operational efficiency.
    • Work closely across our company to create strategies and systems that enhance productivity and company performance.
  • Data Analysis, Reporting, and Communications:
    • Identify and track key business objectives, ensuring timely and aligned project progression.
    • Expert in presentation best practices. Create reports and decks for internal meetings and board meetings that balance data visualization with storytelling.
    • Leveraging data-driven insights and business intelligence to help senior leadership make important decisions.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Ensure highly productive quarterly strategic planning sessions by aligning on priorities as they relate to the overall business strategy, partnering with our EOS facilitator to design the meeting agenda, and preparing all relevant materials in advance of the session- partnering with executive leaders, as needed, to ensure pre-work is completed.
    • Stay updated on external, market, and competitive trends.
    • Accelerate insights and decision-making velocity in support of our strategic vision.

About You:

  • Professional Background: A minimum of 5 years in management consulting or corporate strategy. Ideally with experience with tech companies.
  • High Self-Efficacy: Driven, self-motivated, and gritty. Doesn’t easily lose confidence when answering questions or receiving constructive feedback.
  • Exceptional attention to detail: Approaches all tasks meticulously and consistently delivers with a high level of quality and precision. Nothing falls through the cracks.

Project Management: Demonstrated experience in executing large-scale, cross-functional projects and initiatives. Proven Track Record: Significant experience and high confidence in engaging with executive leaders.

  • Collaborative Vision: Adept at synergizing insights and objectives across multiple teams.
  • Entrepreneurial Drive: Naturally self-motivated with an innate ability to navigate challenges, operate independently, and meet ambitious targets within tight timelines.
  • Analytical Acumen: Data-centric with mastery in Excel and the ability to articulate data insights.
  • Strategic Leadership: Solid experience in business strategy, operations, and championing transformative changes. Proven prowess in steering high-level cross-functional planning and effective execution.
