Modern Animal is reimagining veterinary care and is looking for a Software Engineer that will build upon Modern Animal’s platform and specialize in owning a slice of the production system in order to expands the boundaries of what's possible in pet healthcare.
This role is a unique blend of technical proficiency and forward-thinking, and we're looking for someone who is excited to take ownership of a single vertical based on your expertise. You'll be joining an engineering team that is both fast-paced and intellectually stimulating, with plenty of room for growth.
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. The Engineering team comes to our Culver City HQ once a week.
What You'll Do:
- Contribute to the Modern Animal platform, which includes React and React Native Applications and Python Services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable and robust systems.
- Work closely with product managers and engineers to identify new areas where technology can have an impact.
- Take ownership of a vertical within Modern Animal’s platform, creating technical roadmaps and suggestions for improvement.
- Actively contribute code and participate in code reviews.
- Be a voice for technical rigor and engineering excellence.
- Create wins that benefit our users.
Why You'd be a Great Fit:
- 3+ years of experience in software development.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Hands-on experience with Python, React, or other relevant languages and frameworks.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced environment.
- Enthusiastic about collaborating in team settings while also capable of working independently.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams.
- Bonus points will be given for experience (personal or professional) using the latest Generative AI technologies (GPT, Llama-2, Palm2, etc.) and related technologies (LangChain, Pinecone, etc.)

The pay range for this position is $119,000 - $137,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and equity grant units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Pay Transparency Act. Base pay information is based on geographic location.
