About the role
As part of the Data Platform team at ThoughtSpot, you'll build and evolve the core platform
powering secure, reliable, and high-performance connectivity between ThoughtSpot and
modern cloud data warehouses. The team owns query execution, connection management,
authentication, JDBC integrations, platform observability, semantic services, and AI-powered
platform capabilities.
What you'll do
- Design and develop scalable backend platform services using Java 17/21+.
- Own query execution, connection lifecycle, authentication, JDBC driver management, and CDW metrics.
- Build integrations with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse and other cloud warehouses.
- Improve reliability, scalability, performance, and observability.
- Develop semantic metadata services and AI-assisted platform capabilities.
- Leverage LLMs, Agentic AI frameworks, and MCP integrations to enhance platform intelligence.
- Collaborate with Product, AI, Security, Infrastructure, and Customer Success teams.
- Drive engineering excellence through testing, automation, and operational ownership.
What you bring
- 4+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong Java (17/21+), distributed systems, and backend architecture.
- Deep understanding of SQL, query execution, JDBC, connection pooling, and database internals.
- Experience with OAuth, SAML, OIDC, JWT, Kerberos, or similar authentication technologies.
- Hands-on AWS/cloud-native development experience.
- Knowledge of observability (metrics, logging, tracing).
- Exposure to semantic layers, metadata management, LLMs, Agentic AI (LangChain/LangGraph/LlamaIndex), RAG, and vector databases.
- Excellent ownership, debugging, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Trino, Spark SQL, DuckDB, Calcite, or similar query engines.
- Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and platform engineering.
- Passion for building developer platforms and AI-native analytics infrastructure.
