Handshake is looking for experienced subsurface and reservoir engineering professionals to support AI research through flexible, part-time contract work. This is not a traditional job — you'll draw on your hands-on expertise in reservoir simulation, production forecasting, and reserves reporting to produce expert-level data and analytical outputs that help build AI training environments for the energy industry.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside your current work.

Handshake is looking for experienced subsurface and reservoir engineering professionals to support AI research through flexible, part-time contract work. This is not a traditional job — you'll draw on your hands-on expertise in reservoir simulation, production forecasting, and reserves reporting to produce expert-level data and analytical outputs that help build AI training environments for the energy industry.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside your current work.
What You'll Do
- Apply your professional expertise to independently produce real analytical work outputs — such as reservoir simulation studies, SEC reserves reports, well test analyses, and production allocation calculations — in a structured, project-based format
- Use tools like Petrel, ARIES, Techlog, and Avocet to complete tasks the way you would in your day-to-day role
- Deliver expert-level work that forms the foundation of AI training datasets for energy industry applications
- Complete tasks at your own pace with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement
- 2+ years of professional experience in subsurface engineering, reservoir analysis, or production operations, in a role such as:
- Reservoir Engineer or Reservoir Modeler / Petrophysicist
- Reserves Engineer (SEC reporting)
- Petroleum Production / Well Test Engineer
- Production Allocation Analyst
- Ability to independently produce work using:
- Petrel
- ARIES
- Techlog
- Avocet
- Hands-on experience with workflows such as reservoir simulation and production forecasting, SEC oil and gas reserves reporting, well test analysis, and production allocation calculation
- Bachelor's degree or higher required
- Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
