Your impact

Handshake is looking for a driven and motivated IT Working Student (Werkstudent) based in our offices in Berlin, Germany. As an IT Working Student, you will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to our IT operations. You will work closely with our IT team to provide technical support, assist with various IT projects, and help ensure the smooth functioning of our technology infrastructure.

Your role

  • Technical Support: Assist in providing technical support to Handshake employees by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, escalating to senior IT staff as needed, and ensuring timely resolution to maintain a productive work environment.

  • Hardware and Software Setup: Assist in setting up and configuring computer systems, hardware peripherals, and software applications for employees. Ensure proper functioning and usability.

  • IT Documentation: Contribute to maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of IT processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides to facilitate efficient issue resolution.

  • IT Projects: Collaborate with the IT team on various projects, such as system upgrades, software deployments, and infrastructure enhancements. Participate in project planning, implementation, and testing.

  • User Training: Assist in organizing and conducting training sessions for employees to enhance their understanding of IT tools and resources, promoting self-sufficiency in routine tasks.

  • Inventory Management: Help maintain an inventory of IT equipment, particularly laptops. Assist in tracking and management of assets.

  • Security and Compliance: Contribute to maintaining IT security measures, including data protection, access controls, and compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to provide timely and efficient IT support and share knowledge.

Your experience

  • Enrolled in a relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field at a German university.

  • Basic understanding of IT fundamentals, including hardware, software, networking, and operating systems.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established processes and procedures.

  • Positive attitude, proactive approach, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Availability to work a minimum of 20 per week during regular business hours.

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

  • 🏦 Pension Scheme: Handshake will provide you with a workplace pension, where you will make contributions based on 5% of your salary. Handshake will pay the equivalent of 3% towards your pension plan, subject to qualifying earnings limits.
  • 🏝 Up to 25 days of vacation to encourage people to reset, recharge, and refresh, in addition to 8 bank holidays throughout the year.
