About Intergrid

Intergrid is a Helsinki-based technology company offering autonomous control for industrial energy systems with a mission to enable broader and faster transition to a truly renewable energy system.

Industrials are adopting electric-hybrid energy systems to cut energy costs, hedge fuel price risk and reduce their carbon footprint, but managing multiple energy sources and real-time power markets quickly exceeds the capabilities of existing tools and human operators.

Trusted by 100+ industrial sites in Europe, Intergrid's Autopilot handles the complexity and controls hybrid energy systems and power market trading 24/7.

In less than three years, we've grown exceptionally fast from three founders with an ambitious vision (and an office in Olli's living room) to an amazing, diverse team of >35 people from different nationalities.

To accelerate our growth, we have also secured >10M€ in funding from top-tier US and Finnish investors, such as True Ventures, Lifeline Ventures, Risto Siilasmaa, and the founders of Aiven. This allows us to continue expanding the team on all fronts with top talent passionate about tackling complex challenges and driven by curiosity and kindness.

We enjoy active collaboration and want to get to know our teammates beyond their Zoom profiles, so we would love to see you at our office located at Kalevankatu 30, Helsinki, as often as possible. Still, we all appreciate the possibility of working remotely from time to time.

About the role

We are entering a new stage in scaling our business and impact in Europe, and are looking for a full-time Software Engineer (Deployment) to join our fast-growing team in Helsinki!

You’ll own one of Intergrid’s key scaling challenges: connecting, deploying, and operating a growing fleet of industrial sites on our Autopilot. Our Autopilot monitors and controls hybrid energy systems across a fast-growing portfolio of industrial customer sites.

You'll build the AI-native systems that bring new customer sites live with edge integrations with industrial control systems (PLC, SCADA), automated deployment pipelines, and tooling that makes onboarding faster and more reliable.

You’ll join our Software Engineering team and work closely with our Deployment team. This role sits at the intersection of software and industrial environments: turning real customer deployments into repeatable, scalable solutions. AI isn’t an add-on here; it’s a core lever for how we scale our Autopilot offering.

Why this opportunity is ideal for you: Autonomous vehicles are changing how we think about mobility. We're doing the same for industrial energy by developing an Autopilot that takes over real-time control of industrial-scale energy systems and power market trading.

The energy transition is creating a once-in-a-generation wave of sites going hybrid, and Intergrid offers the Autopilot to manage the complexity. You'll build the deployment infrastructure that connects our Autopilot to real assets at real sites, where your code directly controls the flow of energy.

Key responsibilities

  • Own edge integrations to industrial control systems: Design and build systems for deploying, updating, monitoring, and troubleshooting our PLC, SCADA, API connectivity across industrial sites.

  • Build an AI-native deployment workflow: Develop internal tools and automated workflows that make new go-lives faster, more reliable, and repeatable across different types of customer sites.

Who we are looking for

  • Python engineer: Strong Python skills and confidence writing PLC control software and building integrations with industrial systems (SCADA, APIs) in customer deployments.

  • AI-native: We use agentic workflows and the latest AI tooling to accelerate everything we do at Intergrid. We require that building with AI isn't a skill you're developing; it's already how you work.

  • Technical problem-solver: You enjoy tackling complex systems and turning one-off cases into scalable solutions.

  • Customer service mindset: Comfortable collaborating with customers, installation partners, and internal teams to keep projects moving.

  • Quick learner: Proven track record of being proactive and someone who learns quickly, even in complex settings. You excel in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

  • Future-driven builder: You are willing to make your mark on the future of Intergrid, autonomous control systems, and the global energy transition. You'll participate in development with your own ideas and own meaningful projects, taking responsibility for outcomes that matter.

  • Bilingual: Fluent in Finnish and English, with the ability to participate in technical discussions with clients

We also value if you have

  • Experience with Java and Linux

  • Background in IoT, edge computing, or embedded systems

  • Cybersecurity knowledge

  • Experience with databases and data infrastructure

  • Experience working in operational or industrial environments

  • Additional Nordic language skills

  • Fast-track your career – Take on meaningful responsibilities within days, not months, as we scale rapidly. Top talents advance quickly when Intergrid is growing this fast and your success drives our success.

  • Thrive in our Helsinki HQ – Vibrant, supportive, and inclusive office-first environment

Our hiring process will typically follow these steps:

First discussion (30 min)

Get to know each other, learn about your motivation and previous experience. Brief intro on the role and Intergrid, discuss our mission, vision, and ways of working. You are more than welcome to visit our office.

Technical interview (120 min)

In-depth discussion about the role and your potential fit for it by focusing on role-specific competencies. Show off your skills in a role-specific technical case exercise.

Founder meetup (60 min)

Meet all our founders and dive into our strategy, culture and future plans. Ask all your toughest questions.

'Work with us' afternoon (4 hours)

We invite you to work with the Intergrid team for a half day to ensure our ways of working align with your aspirations. It is a significant commitment on both sides; thus we only move to this stage if we really want to work with you. It's designed to help both sides make the right decision, and especially giving you a transparent opportunity to decide on a new career chapter. You will receive compensation for this.

About Intergrid

Heat and steam are used in almost every industry for various purposes in various temperatures. In Europe alone, more than a million industrial sites still rely on burning fossil fuels, making industrial heat production one of the largest emission sources accounting for >30% of all European CO2 emissions. To reach net-zero by 2050, we need to electrify 100 sites a day, Monday through Sunday - for the next 25 years.

At Intergrid, we are on a mission to make electrification and optimization of industrial energy use as easy and economical as possible. Our full-stack AI autopilot combines proprietary data and control layers with real-time decision-making to optimize industrial heat and steam production and power trading 24/7, safely and reliably.
