Why this role matters:
As a Senior IT Engineer (Linux Client Platform), you’ll help shape and evolve the Linux workstation environment that supports ICEYE’s engineers and operational teams globally. You will play a key role in maintaining a secure, automated, and scalable Linux client platform that enables mission-critical work across Earth Observation and Defence Technology operations. Your expertise will directly support the reliability, security, and productivity of the teams building and operating ICEYE’s world-leading SAR capabilities.

Your day-to-day responsibilities
Collaborate on the architecture, implementation, and lifecycle management of ICEYE’s Linux desktop and laptop environment
Maintain and improve existing configuration management and automation workflows using Infrastructure as Code and GitOps practices
Ensure Linux endpoints remain secure, compliant, and seamlessly integrated with enterprise identity and access management systems
Support enterprise-grade Linux client security controls including Full Disk Encryption, secure boot, certificate management, and patch management strategies
Act as a Subject Matter Expert and escalation point for complex Linux workstation, hardware driver, and endpoint application issues
Work closely with IT and security teams to optimize reproducible endpoint states and improve operational scalability
Develop and maintain automation and administrative tooling using Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages
Mentor and support colleagues by documenting Linux platform workflows, standards, and troubleshooting practices
What we’re looking for
Must haves:
5+ years of experience managing Linux laptops and desktops in a corporate or enterprise IT environment
Deep expertise in Ubuntu and Debian-based Linux distributions, including Linux desktop internals, networking, and hardware drivers
Proven hands-on experience with configuration management and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Salt, Chef, or Nix
Strong understanding of enterprise endpoint security, including centralized authentication, endpoint encryption, and EDR integrations
Strong scripting and automation skills using Bash, Python, or similar technologies
Experience integrating Linux endpoints with enterprise identity platforms such as Okta, Keycloak, or Active Directory
Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to document workflows and support cross-functional teams
Eligibility to obtain and maintain a national security clearance within the country of employment
Nice to haves:
Experience with Ubuntu Pro, FleetDM, or similar enterprise Linux management platforms
Familiarity with RedHat or Fedora-based Linux ecosystems
Experience working in highly automated GitOps-driven IT environments
Exposure to mixed operating system environments including Windows and macOS
Experience supporting engineering or technical user populations in fast-scaling organizations
