Why this role matters
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll own key parts of the cloud platform that keeps ICEYE's satellites talking to Earth. You'll shape how our AWS and Kubernetes environments are designed, secured and operated across ground stations, test environments and end-user platforms. You'll make infrastructure decisions that decide whether engineering ships fast and whether satellite operations stay connected when it matters most.
Who We Are
ICEYE delivers space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities to governments and allied nations. This includes sovereign and turnkey ISR missions leveraging ICEYE's world-leading synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology, as well as access to data from the world's largest SAR satellite constellation. These capabilities enable partners to detect and respond to critical changes anywhere on Earth with unprecedented speed and accuracy, day or night and in any weather, supported by ultra high-resolution imagery and high-frequency revisits.
As a trusted partner for defense, intelligence, security, and maritime domain awareness, ICEYE's near real-time data creates a tactical advantage for mission-critical operations. Designed for dual use, the platform also serves civil protection and commercial users for natural-catastrophe intelligence, insurance, maritime monitoring including oil-spill detection, and finance, contributing to global security and community resilience.
ICEYE is headquartered in Finland and operates globally across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. We have more than 900 employees, united by a shared vision: improving life on Earth by becoming the global source of truth in Earth Observation.
Your day-to-day responsibilities
Own key parts of the AWS and Kubernetes platform behind our ground station and connectivity systems, working alongside another senior DevOps engineer and making explicit architecture trade-offs between reliability, cost and delivery speed
Drive larger infrastructure initiatives in your areas from design to delivery, including the dependencies on software teams and ground station vendors
Evolve our Terraform and deployment setup with reusable patterns that prevent whole classes of configuration and release issues
Design and harden the network between our cloud environments and ground station sites
Turn loosely defined operational problems into clear technical plans and working solutions
Drive platform incidents to resolution, find the root cause, and turn what you learn into lasting reliability improvements
Share your expertise through reviews, pairing and technical guidance, and help raise the bar on how we build and run infrastructure
What we're looking for
Must haves:
Experience owning a platform or critical infrastructure area end to end, including its architecture decisions and trade-offs
Extensive hands-on experience designing and operating production environments on AWS, including IAM, cost management, and security practices such as least privilege and secrets management
Strong cloud networking skills: VPC design, DNS, routing, security groups, and debugging connectivity across cloud and on-prem environments
Deep Terraform experience, including designing modules and managing infrastructure at scale
Experience running Kubernetes in production, including deployments, Helm and troubleshooting
A track record of resolving production incidents and driving lasting reliability improvements
Experience designing CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub Actions
Nice to haves:
Hybrid cloud and on-prem experience
Scripting or software engineering experience with Python, Bash or Go
Observability practices, including logging, metrics, alerting and tools such as Grafana
Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, RDS or MongoDB
Experience in regulated, defence or security-sensitive environments
