The Mission of the Mechanical Engineer

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll contribute to the design, integration, and qualification of ICEYE’s satellite hardware, ensuring structural integrity, reliability, and manufacturability to meet demanding mission and aerospace standards.

Day to day responsibilities:

  • Contribute to trade studies, design reviews, and verification and qualification documentation across the product lifecycle

  • Support continuous improvement of existing satellite products and mechanical designs

  • Collaborate with suppliers, supply chain, AIT, and quality teams to ensure compliance with launch and in-orbit requirements

  • Work with system and subsystem engineers to define and refine requirements for new products

  • Support integration, assembly, and validation activities to ensure designs meet performance and reliability targets

  • Participate in troubleshooting and issue resolution during build, test, and integration phases

  • Contribute to ensuring manufacturability, cost efficiency, and quality of mechanical solutions

Requirements:

Must have skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or similar engineering environments

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, integration, and testing

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with systems, electrical, and manufacturing teams

  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills

  • Strong motivation to learn and continuously develop technical skills

Nice to have skills

  • Experience with PLM or PDM systems for configuration control

  • Experience designing satellite structures, subsystems, or complex electromechanical systems

  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards such as ECSS, NASA, or MIL
