Why this role matters:

We build software products that turn ICEYE’s satellite data and analytics into outcomes customers can rely on during real events such as floods, wildfires, and earthquakes.

In this role you deliver end-to-end product slices across backend and frontend. You help us ship frequently, keep systems supportable in production, and continuously reduce friction in how we build and run our products.

This is a senior individual contributor role. You are expected to take ownership of your work and its production outcomes, but there is no expectation that you act as a Tech Lead for the team.

One Role, Two Paths

We are hiring for this profile to fill a critical gap in either our direct Product teams or our foundational Core Analysis Platform team. During the process, we will assess where your skills and interests leverage the most impact:

• Product Teams (e.g., Flood, Wildfire): Your customer is the external client (e.g., Government or Insurance users). You focus on the "last mile"—shipping end-to-end features, visualizing insights for non-experts, and driving commercial outcomes.

• Core Analysis Platform Team: Your customer is the internal expert (Analysts, Peril Leads, Meteo) and other Product Teams. You focus on the "engine"—building the high-scale execution environments, data pipelines, and advanced tools that allow our experts to model perils (Flood, Fire, Wind) accurately and efficiently.

Requirements

If you like hard product problems, fast feedback, and real ownership, this role is a good fit.

Our domain has real constraints. Inputs can be messy, timelines can be tight, and customers need clear results. The job is to turn complexity into product experiences that are clear, reliable, and easy to evolve.

You will ship end-to-end, get changes to production frequently, and contribute to systems that others can operate. You will work with aligned autonomy. Teams move fast locally, but stay connected through shared customers, shared outcomes, and shared standards.

Your day-to day responsibilities

• End-to-End Delivery: Own full product slices by building seamless functionality from backend APIs to frontend UIs, turning vague requirements into testable, production-ready code.

• Operational Excellence: Maintain system reliability by participating in on-call rotations and improving "observability" through meaningful alerts, clear logs, and automated runbooks.

• Process Optimization: Boost team velocity by identifying delivery bottlenecks—like slow CI or flaky tests—and automating away recurring toil to focus on novel engineering challenges.

• Pragmatic Engineering: Design simple, maintainable architectures that prioritize incremental changes, clear documentation, and high-quality code reviews to ensure safe deployments.

• Collaborative Leadership: Align with cross-functional partners (Product, Design, Data) to solve problems while mentoring peers through pair programming and shared technical context.
  

What we’re looking for

Must-haves

• Senior-level experience delivering & maintaining cloud native production software.

• Strong experience with Python (FastAPI, async patterns) and TypeScript/React.

• Practical delivery mindset: you ship, you iterate, and you keep changes reviewable.

• Production maturity: you design for resilience, debuggability, and supportability.

• Strong communication: you can explain trade-offs clearly and align with Product and peers.

• Office collaboration: you welcome working 3 days per week in the Espoo office and thrive in direct collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with geospatial domains, remote sensing, or data-intensive applications.

• Experience with event-driven architecture and distributed systems.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code (for example Terraform).

• Pragmatic use of AI-assisted workflows (for example Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude Code) with good verification habits.
