Why you will love this role:
As a Harness Manufacturing Technician, you will be part of ICEYE’s Satellite Integration, Harness & MLI Manufacturing Team. You will focus on the hands-on manufacturing, assembly, and verification of satellite harnesses and cable assemblies under the guidance of senior specialists and engineers.
What you will do in this role:
- Assemble and install wiring harnesses and cable assemblies for satellite systems according to drawings and work instructions.
- Perform inspections, continuity checks, and basic electrical tests on harness assemblies.
- Apply workmanship and quality standards (especially IPC/WHMA-A-620).
- Assist in troubleshooting and rework of harness assemblies under supervision.
- Prepare and maintain documentation, traveler sheets, and quality records.
- Handle wires, connectors, shielding, and protective coverings with precision and care.
- Follow cleanroom and ESD handling procedures.
What you need to be successful in this role:
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in cable or harness assembly, preferably in aerospace, electronics, or other high-reliability industries (internships or vocational projects also considered).
- Familiarity with crimping, soldering, wire stripping, lacing, and connector assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring tables, and work instructions.
- Basic knowledge of workmanship standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620 (training/certification can be provided).
- Good manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to work with small wires and connectors.
- Vocational/technical qualification or equivalent training in electronics, electrical, or mechanical assembly.
- Good command of English (written and spoken)
Additionally, it would be beneficial if you had these attributes and skills:
- Previous experience in space, aerospace, or defense harness assembly.
- Familiarity with coaxial or shielded cable assembly.
- Exposure to harness testing tools (continuity testers, pull test machines).
- Experience working under quality systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification (CIS or CIT).
Industry Standards & Context
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 defines requirements and acceptance criteria for cable and wire harness assemblies.
- Space and aerospace harnesses are typically manufactured to the highest reliability levels.
- Additional requirements may include ESA ECSS standards, MIL-STD connectors, or NASA workmanship practices.
