Who are we?

ICEYE is the global leader in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite operations for Earth Observation, persistent monitoring, and natural catastrophe solutions; owning and operating the world's largest SAR constellation. ICEYE is headquartered in Finland and operates from five international locations with more than 600 employees from nearly 60 countries, inspired by the shared vision of improving life on Earth by becoming the global source of truth in Earth Observation.

Our satellites acquire images of Earth at any time – even when it’s cloudy or dark – providing commercial and government partners with unmatched persistent monitoring capabilities. Information derived from our SAR images helps customers make data-driven decisions to address time-critical challenges in various sectors, such as maritime, disaster management, insurance, and finance.

Our team is a tight-knit group of experts across many disciplines (e.g., engineering, software development, radar technology, etc.). We’re innovative, driven people who strive for excellence in everything we do. Teamwork, curiosity, and having fun are core values at ICEYE, and contribute to Making the Impossible possible!!

Why should you work for us?

ICEYE is at the cutting edge of new technology and we are continuing to build and operate our commercial constellation of SAR satellites. Working with ICEYE, you will be part of making the impossible possible, whilst shaping the Earth Observation industry. You will work with varied, diverse and engaged colleagues to further the ICEYE mission. Why you will love this role:

ICEYE is seeking a motivated and versatile Network Systems Engineer to join our Ground Segment Engineering team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain the communication infrastructure that connects ICEYE’s ground segment systems with global ground station networks—and ultimately, with our spacecraft constellation.

You will work across both on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performance data flows throughout our mission-critical systems. The position involves close collaboration with ground station partners and internal engineering teams to integrate, validate, and continuously optimize network solutions.

Your efforts will be key to enhancing performance, fault tolerance, and resilience, enabling the robust communication backbone that powers ICEYE’s satellite operations worldwide.

Technologies you will be working with:

  • Networking: Routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, and network monitoring across hybrid (on-prem + cloud) environments.
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS networking (VPCs, Transit Gateways, VPNs, etc).
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform (core tool for configuration and deployment.)
  • Operating Systems: Linux (system administration, hardening, and performance tuning).
  • Scripting & Automation: Bash scripting, infrastructure automation pipelines, CI/CD integration.
  • Protocols & Systems: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, and secure remote access (SSH, IPsec, TLS).
  • Monitoring & Observability: Network telemetry, metrics, and logging tools.
  • Space-Industry Technologies and Protocols: TT&C (Telemetry, Tracking & Command) concepts, CORTEX ground station systems, and CCSDS standards.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a similar field.
  • Proven experience in network engineering and network systems administration within hybrid on-prem/cloud environments.
  • Solid understanding of IP networking principles, routing, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux-based systems and hands-on experience with Bash scripting.
  • Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure automation and configuration management.
  • Experience designing and maintaining secure, highly available network infrastructures.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to identify, research and resolve new problems, including those involving new technologies.
  • Keen interest and pragmatic experience in using AI/LLM tools assisting software development and operations.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team-working and communication skills in English.

Additionally, it would be beneficial if you had these attributes and skills:

  • Experience with software development or scripting in languages such as Python or Go.
  • High-performance network programming, socket-level development, and protocol optimization.
  • Experience or familiarity with Satellite communications, ground station networks, and space systems operations.
  • Experience with RF propagation and modulations.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and GitOps workflows.

What do we offer?

  • A job that matters in a dynamic Earth Observation environment with a scale-up approach
  • An independent role with a supportive and diverse work environment
  • Occupational healthcare, occupational, and accident insurance
  • A yearly benefit budget to spend as you wish (i.e. on sport, transport, bike benefit, wellness, lunch, etc.)
  • Phone subscription with iPhone of choice
  • Relocation support (i.e. flight tickets, accommodation, relocation agency support)
  • Time for self-development, research, training, conferences, or certification schemes
  • Inspiring and collaborating offices and silent workspaces enable you to focus
  • A wide variety of the best coffee, tea, snacks, and sweets to accompany your daily space mission
