What will you do in this role?
As a Senior Satellite Production Engineer, you will play a key role in the fast-paced, innovative world of satellite production, driving the transition of designs from early-stage R&D into scalable, high-quality manufacturing processes. You will bridge the gap between teams developing cutting-edge satellite technologies and the production line, ensuring that designs move seamlessly into production environments that can support repeated manufacturing with rigorous test coverage.
This role is crucial for ensuring that PCBAs, mechanical parts, and system integration processes are both efficient and reliable, providing the technical leadership necessary to maintain high standards while supporting the dynamic nature of the New Space industry. You will work on small satellites and similar platforms, with a focus on rapid prototyping and the iterative improvements required to succeed in this industry.
Your expertise in transitioning verification and assembly procedures, typically developed with R&D and prototype purposes in mind, will be essential for transforming these into detailed, productized workflows. You’ll also drive innovation in production automation, using your programming skills in Python, to ensure that the process remains agile, scalable, and highly adaptable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacturing Process Improvement
Continuously develop, implement, maintain and improve current manufacturing processes including equipment, documentation, tooling/fixtures to optimize quality, productivity and cost. - New Equipment & Process Implementation
Plan, specify, validate and implement new equipment, processes and facilities in manufacturing to support production scaling and quality improvements. - Cross-functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including R&D and production to build standardized yet adaptable workflows that meet the unique challenges of the New Space industry. - Production Tools and Equipment Management
Manage the development and approval of production tools, equipment and JIGs ensuring they meet operational standards for scalable and repeatable manufacturing.
