Enveda is looking for a Research Associate to join our team in Boulder, CO.!
The contribution you will make:
We are looking for a motivated analytical chemist with proficiency in separation chemistry, chromatography, mass spectrometry, and metabolomics analysis of natural products for both qualitative and quantitative analysis. You will be primarily responsible for operating chromatographic instrumentation, method development, and isolation and characterization of targeted secondary metabolites from natural products.
As a member of the Platform Chemistry team, you will report to our Senior Director of Platform Chemistry.

You get to collaborate on:

  • Hands-on execution of analytical chemistry methods, data analysis, targeted isolation and characterization of various types of natural product samples.
  • Champion on sample handling and analysis of complex extracts, SPE fractions, semi-purified fractions, pure samples for analytical LC runs, mass spectrometry (LC-MS, GC-MS, MS/MS), and NMR data acquisition and interpretation.
  • Perform analytical method development, method scouting, method transfer and scale-up isolations for targeted compounds.
  • Isolation and purification of compounds from extracts or enriched fractions at analytical to semi-preparative scale.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the LC and MS instruments and resolve the equipment issues efficiently to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Manage the lab operations while preparing required standards, reagents and maintaining chemical and consumable inventories to the team.
  • Support multiple projects within platform chemistry services and communicate the results and conclusion clearly to the team and management.
  • Prepare SOPs, documentation, reports, presentations, and participate in internal/ external meetings.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Work well within a fast-paced, dynamic, and team-oriented start-up environment.
  • Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain compliance with Enveda notebooks, SOPs, internal databases and support of Enveda standards for protection of intellectual property.

Who will thrive in this role?

  • BS/MS in chemistry or related discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience in an industry/CRO/academic research lab setting.
  • Strong background in separation chemistry, chromatography (HPLC, LC-MS), mass spectrometry (MS, HRMS, MS/MS) and chromatographic method development is required.
  • Experience in extractions, pre-fractionation, and purification of natural products is highly desirable.
  • Background in NMR and structural elucidation is a plus.
  • Experience with life sciences software and laboratory information management systems (Benchling, CDD, Spotfire, etc…).
  • Experience with spectral database construction, chemometric data interpretation, and analysis is a plus.
  • Familiarity with computational tools and resources, organic chemistry, and drug discovery is a plus.
  • Excellent team player, and experience of working with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well within a fast-paced, dynamic, and team-oriented start-up environment.
