The Director of AI is the Subject Matter Expert on applied AI for the whole lifecycle of EdgeConneX digital infrastructure throughout its products and services.

The Director of AI also serves as the Principal Data Scientist and is a foundational role within our newly created AI capability within EdgeConneX. We are looking for a strong candidate who has technical prowess and equally importantly the ability to understand and link insights and models to the business for immediate impact. As EdgeConneX develops its new data infrastructure and strategy, this candidate will be expected to provide input and create scalable solutions to deploy production-ready models to tackle critical business needs across planning, build, and operations. They will lead, design and develop software programs, algorithms, and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources. This position will have frequent interactions with the Senior/Executive leadership at EdgeConneX, and the ideal candidate should be able to craft compelling data-driven stories to get executive buy-in and generate profitable growth for the company.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for EdgeConneX's AI capability, setting the vision for data-driven initiatives and guiding the development of advanced analytics solutions.
  • Collaborate with business, engineering, and tech SMEs to define the AI strategy and roadmap, aligning it with business goals and priorities.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to derive actionable insights to inform decision-making and improve business outcomes.
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical techniques to solve problems.
  • Build ML solutions on existing EdgeConneX proprietary data sets and algorithms for scale and automation.
  • Work closely with engineering, operational, and technology teams to integrate automated and scalable AI solutions into existing workflows and processes.
  • Define and track key performance metrics to measure the impact of AI initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in next gen hyperscalers that may profoundly impact our design, engineering, and technology stacks.
  • Establish elegant solutions to fuse different automations to ML solutions.
  • Mentor and coach junior data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team.
  • Assist the CIO in developing notional reference architectures and sourcing AI/ML platforms for our customers and stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communications, both written and verbal, in leading teams and coordinating with peers and other disciplines on driving projects/issues to closure
  • Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables
  • Superb ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/responsibilities
  • Superb ability to meet committed timelines, leveraging assistance/input from peers
  • Strong and effective team player in working with various disciplines and peer groups; can cover all gamut of tasks required to ‘getting a job done’
  • Strong attention to detail

Experience/Education

  • Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Applied AI, Data Science, Computer Science, or Statistics.
  • Significant experience (7+ years) in predictive data analytics and data science, with a track record of delivering impactful solutions in a high-performance setting.
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, predictive modeling, and data visualization.
