Title: Permit Manager (EMEA Region)
The Senior Permit Manager (EMEA) will provide hands on support to the regional program and project oversight for the permitting of datacenter projects most notably in the EMEA region. We are looking for a proven, self-starter that can support multidisciplinary teams in obtaining permits on time. This will mean that the (senior) permit manager interfaces with our strategic partners to ensure that the permit application will follow a defined permit strategy, that the permit application is done on time and followed up. The (senior) Permit Manager will be a sparring partner for a multitude of other departments within EdgeConneX to ensure the permits are received on time. This position reports to the VP of PMO EMEA.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for all ECX permit applications in the EMEA Region. Works with BCEI, Real Estate, Engineering, Market Development, Public Affairs and PMO to create a permit strategy for EMEA and the project location specifically.
- Follows up and is the prime contact point for our local permit consultants. The (senior) permit manager challenges these parties to execute the best they can.
- Evaluate the local permit consultants that are used, to determine whether or not they are a fit and are the best partner in market to submit and process the permit application.
- Track emerging permit issues that may delay the permit application process and report these to the VP of PMO EMEA and support identification of solutions and contingency plans to mitigate the impact.
- Provide high-quality, recurring and ad-hoc, verbal and written reports to customers, lenders, and internal management
- Track permit application process via contractor interviews, on-site data gathering and in person by being present at permit meetings.
- Further define a robust permit application strategy for the EMEA, based on current and future experience gained.
- Participate in Regional enterprise program planning, project scheduling improvement initiatives and sharing best practices.
- Prepare and update progress schedule reports as required by the customer
- Assist in the acquisition of easements for infrastructure when required.
- Create the list per market which permits are necessary in order to construct and what permits / permissions are required later to operate the facility.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Fluent proficiency in English as well as another European language.
- Strong communications, both written and verbal, in coordinating and working together with peers and other disciplines on driving projects/issues to closure
- Understanding of datacenter and substation and cable route permitting practices
- Strong understanding of permit terms, processes, and government roles
- Experience with permit process of >$100M project value, developing processes, procedures and reporting, and analysis of such to enhance permit delivery
- Proficient knowledge of computer environment including Microsoft applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to execute risk analysis for a permit application process as well as process, interpret and act on the output of these analyses.

Experience/Education
- Proven 7+ years experience in the Data Center industry, Industrial Construction or Commercial Real Estate industries as a (senior) Permit Manager
- Bachelor of Science, Master’s in Law or equivalent degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
- Evidence of continuous learning and improvement throughout the (senior) permit managers career.
Travel
- 25% with the flexibility to travel on short notice.
