About the role

We're looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll work on a diverse range of projects, from feature-enabling services, to search ranking and personalized recommendations. You'll collaborate closely with our backend and search leads to deliver robust backend solutions that directly impact our users' experience.

What you’ll do:

• Develop and maintain backend services that power our core features

• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers to ensure seamless integration of backend services with user-facing features

• Contribute to search quality improvements, ML-based ranking systems, and personalized recommendations

• Work across various technologies, including our web application, search stack, and data pipelines.

Who you are

• 5+ years of professional software development experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Strong track record of building and shipping production-ready backend systems

• Strong programming skills, particularly in Go, C++, or similar languages

• Experience building distributed systems

• Highly collaborative mindset with a focus on enabling team success

• Ability to adapt to new technologies and work across different parts of the stack

• Comfortable in a fast-paced, startup environment

Nice to haves:

• Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers

• Experience with vector search, LLMs/agents, embeddings, or ML models in backend systems

• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes

• Comfortable working with TypeScript for client-side development

• Familiarity with cloud platforms and their respective backend services

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
