As a Game Designer, you will collaborate closely with producers, developers, artists, and other departments to deliver high-quality game experiences from concept through to final release.

ForeVR Games is seeking a talented and experienced Game Designer to join our creative team. The ideal candidate will be a visionary with a deep understanding of game mechanics, player experience, and industry trends. As a Game Designer, you will collaborate closely with producers, developers, artists, and other departments to deliver high-quality game experiences from concept through to final release.
Role & responsibilities
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to articulate design ideas clearly, both written and verbally. Provide feedback to other designers and communicate with non-design team members (e.g., artists, programmers, producers)
- Project Management: Experience with Jira to keep design work organized within the broader scope of game development
- Game Conceptualization: Work with Product Owner and other team members to define the vision, tone, and direction for the game. Translate this vision into detailed game systems and mechanics
- Prototyping & Documentation: Develop and iterate on prototypes for new gameplay features, and ensure all design work is properly documented (e.g., game design documents, flowcharts, etc.)
- UI/UX Design: Experience designing user interfaces and crafting positive user experiences
- Balancing & Tuning: Continuously assess, balance, and tweak gameplay systems to create a satisfying player experience. Includes combat mechanics, progression systems, economy, difficulty curves, etc.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with producers, developers, artists, and other designers to ensure the design is implemented to the highest standard
- Playtesting & Feedback: Lead playtesting sessions, gather player feedback, and iterate on design elements based on insights to refine gameplay
- Product & Community Intelligence: Be the player. Deeply understand what makes our games tick from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives
- Problem-Solving: Ability to solve complex design challenges, particularly when balancing player satisfaction with technical constraints
- Quality Assurance: Ensure designs are implemented correctly and perform bug fixes when necessary during the development lifecycle
- Stay Current: Keep up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and design techniques to inform future design decisions and innovation
- 5+ years of games industry experience
- 3+ years of liveops experience
- 3+ mobile & VR/AR experience
- Proficiency in industry-standard game engines (Unity, Unreal, etc.)
- Strong portfolio with demonstrable game systems and mechanics design
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Leadership skills to guide design teams and mentor junior designers
- Expertise in core game design areas (combat, progression, balancing, etc.)
- A passion for games and knowledge of industry trends
