As a Principal (Machine Learning) Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in driving innovation and growth for our B2B auction platform. You will lead the development and implementation of advanced machine learning algorithms to solve complex business problems, optimize the user experience, and improve auction outcomes. You will be a thought leader in data science, collaborating closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities and translate them into actionable insights.


Lead the development and implementation of machine learning solutions:

  • Design, test, and deploy machine learning models for tasks like product recommendation, demand forecasting, churn prediction, price optimization, and anomaly detection.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in machine learning and deep learning techniques, and identify suitable algorithms for business challenges.

Build scalable infrastructure for Machine Learning:

  • Collaborate with data engineers to develop and maintain data pipelines for collecting, cleaning, and transforming large datasets relevant to machine learning projects.
  • Work with engineering teams to integrate machine learning models into the platform infrastructure for seamless user experience.
  • Advocate for and implement best practices in data quality and governance.

Data analysis and experimentation:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of user behavior, auction data, and market trends to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Design and execute A/B tests to validate the effectiveness of machine learning models and optimize platform features.
  • Develop clear and concise data visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.

Collaboration and communication:

  • Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to define data-driven strategies and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, ensuring everyone understands the value of machine learning solutions.
  • Mentor and guide junior data scientists within the team, fostering a collaborative and learning environment.


  • PhD or Masters in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a data science role, with a strong focus on machine learning.
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models in production environments.
  • Expertise in working with big data frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and data manipulation libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy).
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages like Python and R.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • A passion for B2B e-commerce and a strong interest in leveraging machine learning to solve real-world business problems.
