Position Overview:

Avidbots is looking for a driven project manager in our PMO team to help us transform and mature the design of our latest product, KAS. This role will be responsible for executing cost reduction and functional safety certification projects for KAS, as well sustaining and enhancing our flag ship product, Neo. We are looking for someone who is eager to roll up their sleeves and establish comprehensive plans to attack cost, reduction, reliability in conjunction with our main supply partner in China. In addition, safety execution on KAS will open new markets in Europe to allow us to grow our business outside of North America.

Our ideal candidate has a proven track record of managing medium-sized multidisciplinary projects with a focus on hardware delivery. You are passionate about building and developing relationships with external design and supply partners, you have experience working with overseas partners, and have managed project budgets up to $1M.

The selected candidate will work in the Program Management Office and directly report to the Senior Director, PMO

This opportunity is a hybrid position based out of our Kitchener HQ a minimum of 3 days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and work on projects to drive cost reduction and improve the quality of the product.
    Motivate and manage the project teams to achieve the project objectives.
    Execute on roadmap priorities as determined by Product Management and Architecture.
    Lead cross-functional teams through project delivery, ensuring governance of the process.
    Collaborate with Operations and Customer Care to coordinate the introduction of product changes and to provide the best high-quality solutions for manufacturability and serviceability.
    Monitor and report on the health of your programs and projects against defined metrics and KPIs.
  • Exhibit wide-ranging experience across hardware development and maturity, using in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, and best practices to deliver on company objectives.

Requirements:

  • BSc. or Msc. in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Technology or equivalent experience in a Technical Project Management role.
  • 3+ years in a Project Management role, with experience delivering new hardware products from launch to maturity.
  • Strong leadership skills centered around motivating others, critical thinking, problem-solving, and trust & teamwork.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects in paralell.
  • Experience with Google Suite, Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience reporting to senior leadership on project status and health.
  • Strong understanding of hardware development best practices, including transition planning, design for manufacturing, serviceability and quality.
  • Strong understanding of NPI including manufacturing and supply-chain concepts.
  • Experience drafting and executing third party development agreements.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance for EMI, functional and electrical safety.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that may include criminal/civil background checks

Nice-to-Haves:

  • 2-3 years in a technical contributor role in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience managing projects of autonomous vehicles / autonomous robots / other AI systems.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance for data privacy, and global market access.
  • Experience working with overseas contract manufacturing and design partners.
