Artyc is on a mission to decarbonize cold chain logistics with environmentally-friendly, reusable, active cooling containers. Artyc is building a sustainable cold-chain platform for middle-mile and last-mile logistics which aims to reduce spoilage while increasing access to cold-storage products in rural, international, and underserved communities to address the global cold chain gap. Artyc is looking for a Contract Hardware Engineer to jump directly into creating the hardware that enables our products with a close-knit and mission-driven team. We are looking for passionate and highly skilled individuals to join our team and be part of growing their respective organizations within the company. For the Contract Hardware Engineer at Artyc, we are looking for someone who is independent, responsible and a clear communicator.

What you’ll do with mentorship from Artyc’s hardware team:

  • Design, produce, and debug PCBs
  • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and design reviews
  • Become an expert in our firmware codebase to add features and debug
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical and software engineering counterparts, and collaborate with product, sales, and design teams

Role Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience
  • Experience scale manufacturing of PCBs
  • Understanding of complex power management systems and power budgeting
  • Familiar with lithium-ion battery systems, including the selection and integration of BMS and fuel gauge chips
  • Proficient with standard lab equipment and tools such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and soldering equipment
  • Ability to build electromechanical prototypes, perform wiring and cable routing and drawings
  • Knowledge of various battery chemistry design and testing protocols
  • Familiarity with firmware (in C/C++) development and control systems is a plus
  • Competent in Python

Preferred Skills:

  • Background with IoT products
  • Experience with cellular communications
  • Logistics device projects
  • Can build architectural documentation

Location & Time:

  • Fremont, CA
  • 20-30 hrs/week with opportunity for contract to hire down the line
